Reading Between the Spines
An Exclusive Book Club for Friends Members
In a 2021 survey, Friends members responded that they would enjoy seeing more "perks" to their membership. In response, the Friends created a members-only book club, Reading Between the Spines.
Reading Between the Spines is uniquely different from your typical book club. Meetings are held 2-3 times a year. A few weeks before each meeting, a sign up invitation is emailed to each active Friends member. Pre-registration is required, as in-person attendance is limited to 13-15 (including the discussion leader) on a first-come first-served basis. In hopes of engaging as many Friends members as possible, book selections will range across genres, and meeting locations will move from branch to branch. If one book choice doesn’t grab you, be on the look out for the next!
Copies of the book to be discussed are purchased by the Friends and are made available for attendees to check out at the branch library where the discussion will be held. Immediately after the discussion, books are then turned back in and donated by the Friends to become a kit in the Brown County Library's book club collection.
Check the "Upcoming Events" listing on our Home Page for our next Reading Between the Spines discussion.
